Bereavements
During this most difficult time, we at RJC offer our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your loved one. Losing a member of our community is deeply felt by all, and we are here to support you in every way we can.
We understand that navigating the legalities and arrangements after a loved one’s passing is overwhelming. Here’s how we can help:
- The United Synagogue Burial Office (020 8950 7767): Their staff will guide you through registering the death and arranging the funeral, being available during weekdays, Sundays, and with an after-hours service (details on their voicemail).
- RJC Office: Please contact our office as well. We will connect you with a Rabbi to discuss religious aspects and assist with practicalities like notifying the community and providing shiva chairs and prayer books.
Following Jewish Tradition
- Shiva: We will observe Shiva with you. Shiva is a seven-day mourning period where mourners gather to receive comfort and prayers. Please let us know if you require support during this time.
- Kaddish: The beautiful tradition of Kaddish, a prayer recited by mourners, honours the memory of the deceased. We can provide resources and guidance on reciting Kaddish.
Please know that you are not alone. We are here to offer support and guidance as you navigate this difficult time. May the memory of your loved one be a blessing.
